My work explores landscape as a place of memory rather than documentation. I enjoy working across different painting styles — from realism to abstraction — and use each approach to explore atmosphere, emotion, movement, and a sense of place, as well as the balance between structure and looseness.

Diane grew up in the Seattle area and moved to New York City in 1988, where she worked in film and later as a graphic designer. Since 2009, she has been a sought-after wedding photographer known for her documentary approach and eye for emotion.

In 2006, Diane and her wife moved to the Hudson Valley, where they now live on three bucolic acres in Rhinebeck with their dog. Surrounded by nature and changing seasons, Diane’s painting practice has become an extension of her lifelong interest in storytelling, memory, and landscape.

Many of my paintings/monoprints begin with a memory — shifting light, the feeling of open space, water, weather, or the rhythm of the natural world. Rather than focusing on a specific location, I’m interested in capturing what lingers emotionally after experiencing a landscape.

Through painting and printing, I hope to create work that feels both familiar and open-ended, leaving space for viewers to bring their own experiences, memories, and interpretations into the work.
